Ben Loftin
Ben Loftin has an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
Colorado at Colorado Springs and a B.S. in Physics from the University
of Houston. By day, he is a guidance, navigation and control (GNC)
engineer at Raytheon, at night he serves as the caretaker for
PlanetPhysics. His main research interests include: Optimal Control,
Collaborative Physics, Quantum Computing, Robotics and Physics
Education. If he could change one thing, it would be to replicate what
open source software has accomplished with information. Nearly every
project in his professional career has been significantly enhanced by
open source software, but truly free information (i.e. copyleft works,
public domain...) has amounted to little more than a single scooter on the
information highway.
